DIGITAL ARTEFACT DEVELOPMENT
Reaching the final development stages of our team digital artefact has taken an abundance of planning, design and iteration to deliver our final project. From the beginning most of our team worked consistently well with each other to ensure we all played our parts in producing work. To start, we worked out each of our strengths and allocated team roles and behaviours in accordance with these. We then moved on to the initial design and prototyping stage. We began with determining a logo and coming up with our products and the images they’ll feature. From here with moved into manufacturing them onto shirts and staging a photoshoot to showcase our designs and physical project. I elected to design our clothing website and while this was developing another team member focused on our social media presence. With our website design I sourced a lot of my ideas and inspiration from other clothing stores digital media. For example, I drew on aspects of Uncle Reco, Culture Kings, and Restated Vintage for their edgy vibe and clean website design. I really wanted to emanate the atmosphere of these brands to create a young, trendy and clean ‘vibe’ for our company and clothing, also touching on vintage feel. Key learning moments for our digital artefact were definitely at times where we were all trying to decide on one consistent feel for our designs as we wanted our brand ability to be quite high. I definitely learnt how to navigate alongside several different brains with several varying ideas and concepts for one project, to succeed in the planning stages. I was also reminded of the constant back and forth in the iteration stage to ensure that design is to the best course of our project. Further to this, our DA encapsulates the prominent themes of emergent media definitely within our design process. Our team of designers utilised MidJourney AI to begin formulating our clothing design plan; and going further to see the extent of how the consolidation and mixture of musical genres blend together seamlessly to bring our ideas to life. From here the team employed the sublimation printer to publicize our designs onto physical clothing pieces – forming the make-up of our brand. Our contextual materials include, the individual example assessment we did at the beginning of semester where we essentially conducted the same project but on a much smaller scale. This provided me with extensive knowledge on MidJourney AI and allowed me to get my bearings with that foreign technology. Furthermore, it significantly aided in familiarising myself with the tangible emergent media to become more comfortable grasping the function of these technologies. Another significant context material is the subject lecture recordings as they provide significant background to the subject function and the tools and materials available to us. Lastly for context, I used an article on colour theory to inform my choices for best audience engagement with the website, in order to gain the most return on investment. To conclude, all in all this task was conducted extremely well with a good team and several key learning moments. Our group presentation link can be found here.
