PRE - DA
What I mean by Pre-DA are the ideas I was considering before settling on my final project focus. These ideas are similar yet vary slightly in nature and detail, and sadly there were some ideas I couldn't pursue, purely due to time restrictions and accessibility limitations in completing this project during the COVID 19 Sydney lockdown.
The Ideas
The accumulation of these ideas allowed me to understand my passion for social media creation as well as the need for creative expression in my work.
Social media marketing business
I wanted to create something that I could a) benefit from doing what I love and b) use it to push forward in my career. Doing a media and communications degree, majoring in marketing, advertising and public relations, I really wanted to create something that could build on and utilise my skills further than the BCM114 subject. To use it as a base for my career and achieving my goals. However, due to the large size of the project, realistically it was unachievable to complete it to a commendable standard, in the weeks we have for the task.
Card game for couples
This I thought was a really unique idea as it was basically a tool for couples to be able to utilise adventure in their relationship. The basic concept was a deck of cards that significant others can pick out however many cards they want to do in that day and then complete the activities written on the card. From simple things to, taking your S.O. out to breakfast or going on a picnic to more complicated activities like going on a road trip etc. However, I didn't finalise the idea because it didn't have as wide an audience as my other ideas and was targeted to a very specific market, as well as there being very similar products already existing, I wanted to try something else.
Drinking game
The drinking game idea is the one I finalised for my DA project, I chose this as it is very applicable to my age group and I know it really well, therefore, I was able to draw on my experiences and tailor it to the experience of my friends and I; knowing it would sit well with my intended audience. The idea is simple, 60 cards, 4 categories within the deck, lots of alcohol, games and questions to have a laugh with you and your mates.
Portraits and Personas
This idea was really important to me, it was the one I wish I could've done as it had meaning and was significant to an issue in the world. The concept was that I would go around Sydney with my camera and utilise my skills and knowledge in photography to take portraits of homeless individuals and ask them to tell me their stories, where I would then publish them on my website and social media, drawing attention to the saddening issue of homelessness in our city and using my project as a call to action to help those in need. However, I was unable to continue this idea due to the travel and contact restrictions imposed by the COVID 19 lockdown.
